It will come as no surprise to our regular visitors that we have chosen Boy Azooga as our album of the year. From when we first heard it back in the spring we knew it was something very special. Our review went so far as to say “It might appear hyperbolic, however we have no hesitation in saying that this is the best new album we will hear this year, it will almost certainly win the Welsh Music Prize and don’t be too surprised if it ends up with a Mercury Prize nomination.” We were a bit wide of the mark with the Mercury nomination but it did go on to win the Welsh Music Prize and has received critical acclaim and widespread radio play. The band have recently returned from the States and will be playing Cardiff Castle next year with Noel Gallagher. They’ve certainly come a  long way from the Transport Club in Cardiff. We hope you enjoy our list of albums and each and everyone of them is worth a listen. 2018 was a good year.
