The latest report form Dawn Ockenden sheds new light on the horrendous Mental Health care failings witnessed at Tawel Fan and across Betsi Cadwaladr University and Health Board

Ockenden’s latest publication catalogues a series of major management shortcomings on the part of the Board since its creation in October 2009 to the present time.

Commenting, Clwyd West AM Darren Millar AM:

“People in North Wales will feel anger and outrage at the lack of progress over the past three years in addressing the serious failings in leadership and governance at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

“Given that the Health Board was placed into special measures by the Welsh Government over three years ago I have absolutely no confidence in the Cabinet Secretary’s ability to deliver the urgent improvements which are needed in mental health services in North Wales.

“It is abundantly clear that lessons are not being learnt and that the required action is not being taken.

“We now need a clear action plan and robust, independent accountability arrangements to deliver the rapid and sustained improvement which is needed.

“Patients deserve better than this.
