Today sees the launch of the National Academy for Educational Leadership – a key Welsh Liberal Democrat manifesto commitment being delivered by Education Secretary Kirsty Williams.

The leadership academy will work across the education system to provide strategic support for those in current leadership roles as well as providing encouragement and inspiration for those who wish to pursue a leadership career in education in both Welsh-medium and English-medium settings.

Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Jane Dodds, said:

I am pleased that today sees the launch of the leadership academy – a Welsh Liberal Democrat manifesto pledge.

The academy will play a key role in our national mission to raise standards, reduce the attainment gap and deliver an education system that is a source of national pride and enjoys public confidence.

From creating a new leadership academy, transforming initial teacher education, launching new professional standards, and introducing a national approach to professional learning – the Welsh Liberal Democrats are implementing wide-ranging and exciting reforms to support our teaching profession be the best it can be.
